Description:
Sahj is the abrasion of the inner most layer of intestine. It can be due to:
Infiltration of yellow bile, saline phlegm and black bile into intestines.
Passage of hard stools from the intestines.
Use of irritant or erosive drugs.
Use of drastic purgatives. Depending on the involvement of humours it is divided into Damwi (sangineous), Safrawi (bilious), Sawdawi (melanotic) and Balghami (phlegmatic). Its possible English equivalent is crohn’s
disease.
